Special Projects: NAG and GDN Projects
The project safety team managed to conduct more than one thousand twenty-four (1024) safety inspections within Tatweer Petroleum facilities and worksites. Highlights included:
Participated in one hundred twenty-nine (129) contractor management safety walkthroughs.
Reviewed seven hundred eighty-nine (789) EPC project contractor documents in order to ensure contractor HSE performance and compliance.
Prepared, supported and presented cases to nogaholding and Supreme Council of Environment (SCE) to further study incinerator versus flaring requirement for fourteen (14) LP GDU project.
Led review of safety requirements to justify cancelling projects not delivering meaningful risk reduction: CGDF fire protection, protection of ADP and RDP pipelines to BGS, Subsurface Shutdown Valves (SSDVs) for multi-well pads.
HSE Training
Company employees completed sixty-eight thousand six hundred and fifty-seven (68,657) training man- hours in 2022 through computer based, internal classroom based, and third-party training.
Environmental Protection and Regulatory
Tatweer Petroleum continues to uphold its mission to improve environmental practices in the Bahrain Field. In 2022, the following key activities were implemented towards improving environmental practices:
Reduced flaring throughout the Bahrain Field’s operation which have resulted in achieving less than 50% of the annual KPI set for year 2022.
Worked with nogaholding on the lenders requirement for Tatweer Petroleum’s future projects
and have provided all the support to prepare the Environmental Social Impact Assessments (ESIA). Moreover, the first stakeholder engagement plan with the public and key stakeholders was successfully conducted.
Commissioned the ESIA study for the Slurry Fracture Injection (SFI) from the Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) for special wastes and possibly for the contaminated soils.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
The oil and gas industry have increased its involvement to support the de-carbonization of the energy system, in line with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s commitment at the COP26 to reach net zero by 2060 and 30% emission reduction by 2035. In June 2022, the ESG section was established within HSE Department, with the aim of reducing future compliance burdens. Hence, some of the achievements included the following:
Conducted multiple awareness workshops to Tatweer Petroleum management and section heads, and initiated gap analysis study to develop the ESG roadmap.
Launched Bahrain Field Afforestation Project. Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene
Occupational Health (OH)
Continuous efforts were made by the OH team in limiting the spread of COVID-19 by conducting daily testing for Tatweer Petroleum employees and visitors which were gradually decreased.
For the first time, the OH team launched the flu prevention program, flu vaccines were made available in-house in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
A Medical Review Committee (the “Medical Review Committee”) was formed successfully in 2022, with the aim to review and evaluate employee’s fitness.
