Perhaps the most prominent event during the year 2022 in the field of exploration operations was the announcement of the discovery of two (2) new natural gas reservoirs in each of the unconventional “Jubah” and “Jauf” layers, which are located under the “Khuff” and “Unayzah” natural gas-producing reservoirs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Tatweer Petroleum performed hydraulic fracturing operations in the sub-layers of the Jubah and Jauf formations, and conducted separate tests for each basic and sub-stratum, which produced encouraging results in respect of quantity and production opportunities.
It is without doubt that these important discoveries to strengthen and increase the amount of natural resources in the Kingdom of Bahrain were achieved in unity with the aspirations and visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Deputy Supreme Commander, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding). Such recent positive results give rise to optimism and confidence for the Company to proceed with additional well assessments required in order to benefit from all the potential of this promising natural gas resource. In this context, the Company carried out all drilling operations and related activities. It is also scheduled to conduct additional drilling operations during the years 2023 and 2024, in which two-layers will be tested, “Tawil” and “Sara”, which are located below the Jauf gas reservoir, in addition to testing horizontal drilling in the Jubah well in order to improve productivity.
The Company continued its tireless efforts in 2022 to enhance aspects of joint work and cooperation in order to provide areas within the Bahrain Field to be used in the implementation of several new projects in the Kingdom in the future, which required performing analytical studies of promising oil reservoirs and preliminary studies for three-dimensional and high-
resolution seismic surveys, as well as experimental field projects of new and innovative artificial lifting techniques. Over the past year, we witnessed ambitious prospects for joint cooperation with several international companies, in particular the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Saudi Aramco (ARAMCO) and the Italian Oil and Gas Company (ENI), to support and develop the Company’s efforts in the exploration and development sector, thereby contributing to the advancement of this important sector in sustaining sustainable development efforts according to the visions and aspirations of the wise Leadership.
Despite Tatweer Petroleum complex operations that are faced with serious potential risks, the Company’s practices during the year 2022 were characterized by its commitment to safety and security. As a result, the Company achieved zero lost time incidents and continued its drive towards its obligations to protect and preserve the environment with a reduction of gas emissions by 80% from 2021 and an increase in the quality of associated water treatment to produce rates that conform to internationally recognized environmental standards.
With regards to the development of Tatweer Petroleum’s esteemed employees, the Company continued its commitment to exert all possible efforts in offering various programs and initiatives to support their professional and personal development and encourage the employees to dedicate their efforts in enhancing the Company’s objectives. It is with great pride that I am delighted to report that Tatweer Petroleum’s Bahrainization rate has exceeded 90% in 2022, and more than 90,000 training man-hours have been delivered, which represents yet another contribution by Tatweer Petroleum to the economic growth opportunities for the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people.
In addition, the General Loan Support Program and the Housing Loan Program were successfully launched during the past year in the framework of the Company›s continuous keenness to ease the burdens of workers and facilitate their living affairs, as well as other
